One and Done!

And now it was time to celebrate - for mommy. Twin mommies say the first birthday is a celebration for the mommy. Throwing yourself a party for making it through the first year with a sense of accomplishment and relief that there will never be another "first year" with twins to go through - at least not with these twins. What the other twin mommies keep telling me in my "Mother of Twins Club" is that is only gets easier from here. I breathed a huge sigh of relief because we have really had quite the year. First, I had my own celebration with "the adults," we also had cake...

With one very significant birthday candle!

Mimi helped me bake and bake and bake. We were going to throw a birthday bash! But we had to perfect the cake. I had Amy's cake recipe and handholding, but we still wanted to do a trial run. So on April 27, 2010, we had a private celebration with momy, daddy and Mimi.

Unfortunately, they had never eaten cake and did not know what to do with their miniature 3 layered, beautifully decorated, pink and blue birthday cakes. I think we may have helped them out just a little.

Now it was time for the Birthday Bash with all their friends.  We had their small pink and blue "smash" cakes and one for everyone. The house was decorated with pink and blue helium balloons in all the rooms.

Since they had a little practice, they were ready this time!

Say Goodnight, Nate...looks like he's heading for the sugar crash!

Easter 2010

Since they weren't walking yet, we did not set up an Easter Egg Hunt, I decided there will me many more years for that. I did take them to the store and let them pick out their favorite Easter Bunny. Chloe's was pink and purple with something sparkly on it, Nate's was white, soft and fluffy - fitting both their personalities perfectly!

We took a little picnic and went to the park and played on a blanket for a while

And then took some sunset photos on my back deck where the lighting is perfect

I think they enjoyed their first Easter and somehow we only got Nate's bunny in the photos!

Swimming in April?

Like I said, those babies like the water. I didn't get them in the pool when we first came back from New York because it wasn't heated. It would reach a high of 65 on some days. Perfect for a labrador retriever, Bailey was the only one enjoying to pool. So, this was going to be their first summer swimming. I was so excited to introduce them to the water and get them comfortable, so I opened the pool in April. I was ready with swimsuits, rash guards, hats, plenty of sunscreen and inflatable rafts with sunshields! Mimi and I picked a sunny, warm day...and away we went..

first one in - sort of confused...

They checked each other out a lot while they were floating around

There's his little smile peaking out

They were so quiet, it was funny. Taking it all in.

There we all are- first (of many) group photo in the pool

And just to be Nate, he had to try to put in his mouth!

And then he succeeded
It looks like Mimi and I were having just as much fun!

Nate, Chloe, Mimi and mommy's first "Run for the Zoo"

We needed some exercise after being cooped up all winter, so we decided to walk the 5K fun run with the kids in the Bob stroller. It was memorable, such a great experience. And Mimi and I decided we would do a 5K run everywhere we go together, for fun and to keep in shape - we are starting traditions! Yeah

We "Ran for the ZOO!!"

There's Mimi - 5K superstar and the twins in the double stroller!

And Leslie rounding out her triathalon: breastfeeding, pumping and jogging pushing the double stroller!

It was slightly overcast, but the temperature was perfect and a whole lot of people were joining us

Relaxing at home later - looks like Nate is ready for his nap.

Cousin Maddy comes for a visit

We had a full house in March: Aunt Laura, cousin Maddy and Grandma came for a visit.

We took a trip to the zoo, the red wagon was a big hit. They all took turns riding.

But the little Mamma's girl likes to be close to Mamma at all times. She usually demands to be in the sling - nice and cozy and she has a great view. No need for a gym membership anymore!

Checking out the baby elephant..

And then checking out each other...

Aunt Laura and Maddy

Then more play time at home, sharing their toys with Maddy
Nate can get around really well pushing the lion, you can tell he just wants to be able to walk!

Chloe crawling through the tunnel

silly daddy - in the tunnel - squeals of excitement!

The "girls" playing together

Here fishy, fishy, fishy

Can anyone let us out of here?

Watching movies - all cuddled up
Trip to the park to round out the weekend fun. The swings is their favorite so far

didn't want to miss the aquarium..
